Marriott Accelerates Its All-Inclusive Growth with New Resorts in Jamaica and Tanzania

Marriott International is continuing its ambitious expansion in the all-inclusive resort segment with the announcement of two new landmark developments in partnership with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts. Signed in Barcelona on July 22, the agreements will introduce a Marriott Hotels All-Inclusive Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The projects reinforce Marriott's commitment to growing its presence in some of the world's fastest-growing leisure destinations while offering owners access to one of the hospitality industry's most powerful global distribution and loyalty platforms.

Expanding in Two High-Demand Leisure Destinations

The dual signing reflects Marriott's continued focus on destinations where international leisure demand is accelerating.

The first project will bring the Marriott Hotels brand into Jamaica's all-inclusive market through the conversion of the former Catalonia Montego Bay resort. Expected to open in 2028, the beachfront property will feature 522 guestroomsand an extensive range of amenities designed for both leisure and meetings.

Guests can expect:

  • 13 restaurants and bars
  • Three swimming pools
  • Approximately 12,900 square feet of meeting space
  • Full-service spa and fitness center
  • Tennis and pickleball courts
  • Lazy river
  • More than 2,100 feet of beachfront
  • Convenient location near Sangster International Airport

The resort represents another milestone in Marriott's strategy to strengthen its presence in one of the Caribbean's most established tourism destinations.

Autograph Collection Heads to Zanzibar

The second agreement introduces Autograph Collection Hotels to Zanzibar's all-inclusive segment.

Scheduled to open in 2027, the new-build resort will include 271 guestrooms and a wellness-focused concept that reflects the individuality for which the Autograph Collection brand is known.

Planned amenities include:

  • Multiple swimming pools
  • Oceanfront spa
  • Specialty restaurants
  • Theater
  • Oceanfront jetty
  • Seawater pool and bar
  • Curated wellness experiences

The development aims to combine the island's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty with personalized luxury, further positioning Zanzibar as one of Africa's most desirable leisure destinations.

Strengthening Marriott's All-Inclusive Strategy

The new agreements continue Marriott International's rapid growth within the all-inclusive sector.

As of July 2026, Marriott's portfolio includes:

  • 38 all-inclusive resorts currently operating across nine destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA)
  • 20 additional all-inclusive projects under development across the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)
  • Nearly 7,600 guestrooms in the global development pipeline

The expansion reflects increasing owner interest in Marriott's globally recognized brands, powerful distribution network, and the nearly 283 million members enrolled in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

A Growing Partnership with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts

For Catalonia Hotels & Resorts, the agreements mark another step in its international growth strategy.

Founded in Barcelona, the family-owned company currently owns, leases, and operates 82 hotels comprising more than 12,000 guestrooms across Europe and the Caribbean. Its portfolio includes urban hotels throughout Spain and leisure resorts in destinations such as Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

The company already collaborates with Marriott through the Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, and these new projects significantly expand that relationship into the all-inclusive resort segment.

Why All-Inclusive Continues to Gain Momentum

The all-inclusive market has evolved far beyond the traditional vacation model. Today's travelers increasingly seek resorts that combine luxury accommodations, elevated culinary experiences, wellness programming, entertainment, and personalized service within one seamless stay.

For hotel owners and developers, partnering with global brands such as Marriott offers several strategic advantages:

  • Access to international distribution channels
  • Strong brand recognition
  • Global sales and marketing support
  • Marriott Bonvoy's extensive loyalty ecosystem
  • Increased visibility in competitive leisure markets

As demand for experiential vacations continues to grow, branded all-inclusive resorts have become one of the hospitality industry's fastest-growing investment segments.

Looking Ahead

The additions in Jamaica and Tanzania demonstrate Marriott's confidence in the long-term growth of all-inclusive travel across multiple continents. By introducing established brands such as Marriott Hotels and Autograph Collection Hotelsinto new leisure markets, the company continues to diversify its global portfolio while providing owners with flexible development opportunities.

With more projects in the pipeline and continued investment in resort destinations worldwide, Marriott is positioning its all-inclusive platform as a key driver of future growth for both leisure travelers and hotel investors alike.

For travelers, these upcoming openings promise two distinctive new destinations where world-class hospitality, immersive local experiences, and the convenience of all-inclusive travel come together under trusted global brands.
