The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) has announced a partnership with MIT to develop and test cutting-edge smart venue technology. The collaboration will see the convention center serve as a living laboratory for AI-powered event management systems.

The partnership focuses on optimizing crowd flow, personalizing attendee experiences, and improving sustainability through intelligent building systems. MIT researchers will install sensors and tracking systems throughout the facility to gather data and refine algorithms.

'This partnership positions Boston at the forefront of convention technology innovation,' said David Gibbons, BCEC Executive Director. 'We're exploring how AI can enhance both event operations and attendee satisfaction.'

Initial pilots include AI-powered wayfinding, predictive capacity management, and personalized content recommendations for attendees. The technology aims to reduce operational costs while improving event quality. Results from the partnership will be shared with the broader convention industry.
