Belmond has reopened Hotel Splendido in Portofino, Italy, following a comprehensive $60 million restoration. The legendary property, which originally opened in 1901, features completely reimagined interiors while preserving its historic charm.
The renovation expanded the property from 64 to 70 rooms and suites, all with private terraces overlooking the Mediterranean. New facilities include a destination spa, infinity pool, and multiple dining venues including a Michelin-starred restaurant.
'Hotel Splendido is one of the world's most iconic properties,' said Arnaud Bamberger, Belmond COO. 'This restoration honors its legacy while introducing modern luxury and wellness amenities.'
The project took two years and involved master craftsmen restoring original architectural details. The property features artwork by contemporary Italian artists and furnishings by noted designer Martin Brudnizki. Advance bookings are strong, with summer 2026 nearly sold out.
