Asian budget hotel brands are experiencing explosive growth, with OYO, RedDoorz, and FabHotels collectively signing over 5,000 properties in emerging markets during the first three quarters of 2025. The expansion reflects growing middle-class travel demand in developing economies.
These tech-enabled brands offer standardized, affordable accommodations typically priced $20-50 per night. They partner with independent property owners, providing technology, branding, and operational support while leveraging asset-light models.
'Budget hotels represent the fastest-growing hotel segment globally,' said Ritesh Agarwal, OYO Founder. 'Hundreds of millions of first-time travelers need quality, affordable accommodations, and tech-enabled brands can deliver them efficiently.'
India remains the largest market, but expansion into Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America is accelerating. The brands face challenges including quality control and profitability, but investors remain bullish on long-term growth potential in emerging markets.
